Butter-fingers, no, not the candy bar.
Venturing with butterfingers. Still not sure why I felt that should be the title for my blog a couple years ago. I dug deep and found an essay I wrote my sophomore year of high school that should clear things up.

Once I threw off that Christmas wrapping paper and realized what was in my hands, I knew that I had become responsible enough to receive this unbelievable gift. I was so excited, I spent the whole rest of the day figuring out how to work my new iPhone. I took so many pictures and began to learn how to text. I would never let anything bad happen to my phone.
A couple months had past. I was at the mall with my friends, and we decided to take a timer picture. I propped my phone up on a rock and hurried back to my friends for the picture. We stayed still, but my phone did not. We watched it tip and fall down onto the cold sidewalk, screen facing down. I didn't want to pick it up to find that it was cracked, so I made my friend pick it up and see. She picked my phone up and looked at me with big eyes. That was when I knew I had shattered my first phone.
It wasn't long before I had gone through 2 more iPhones. I dropped one in an aquarium from jumping back after petting a slimy stingray. Another fell out of my hands in Ikea, not to mention this was the week of replacing my last broken phone. People could fix my phones, but no one could fix my butter fingers. Last summer, another one of my suicidal phones decided to jump out of my pocket on the top of a roller coaster, yes I did have a very protective case, and yes my phone still did crack. Most people are shocked when they first see their newly shattered phone screen, but for me this was just another event I should expect to happen soon.

This essay way titled Butterfingers. I remember my weirdo language arts teacher that year (who was my favorite teacher) was reading my essay to herself in front of the class and couldn't stop laughing. I wasn't sure why she was laughing because I didn't think it was that funny. Why is Ms. Parkin cracking up over shy little Annika's paper? The class was a lil freaked out.
